Hana Bank wins K-pop fans' hearts from their collabs with G-Dragon and An Yujin. But why did 12 K-pop fanbases send them an open letter? Well, Hana Bank financed a nickel smelting operation on Obi Island, Indonesia, that runs on newly built coal-fired power plants. Here’s the plot twist: In 2021, Hana Financial Group literally declared coal exit finance! 🙃 Excuse us, what are they doing to the planet we live on? So in February 2026, we flew to Seoul and met with Hana Bank's ESG team to deliver the fans' message in person. But they say they can't make an official statement and commitment to not financing the project further🤔 Joke’s on them because we are about to get louder.
